Rohingya Refugee: Fear of Freedom

Rohingya Muslims are an ethnic minority original from the Rakhine State in West Myanmar. This state less minority has been under prosecution since a very long time by the military regime, Buddhist extremist and currently under the democratically eclectic government.

More than 700,000 Rohingya people have fled to Bangladesh since 25 August 2017. This on top of the thousands of thousands Rohingya refugees who already fled to Bangladesh earlier. Most of these Rohingya refugees are women and children. Rohingya people are displaced from their homes in the Rakhine state of Myanmar. Their villages were torched, thousands of men and women were killed by the Myanmar army and Buddhist extremists, many women and girls got raped. Many children lost their parents during the escape to Bangladesh. Approximately a million of stateless Rohingya are now living in refugee camps in Teknaf.
